Inspiration

I've been crafting quite a bit these last few months.  I learned to knit almost a year ago and have hardly been able to put it down.  I've found many beautiful books full of inspiring patterns and I hope to be able to share a few here.  I've recently been challenging myself to do some other crafts as well - sewing, photography, and collages to name a few.  As I sit here thinking about my explorations in color and texture I remember The Paper Princess by Elisa Kleven.  In this beautifully illustrated book (done in colorful collage) is a creative girl, a paper princess (of course), and lots of adventure.  If I ever see one at a library sale or garage sale I will snatch it right up.  I think I'll check it out the next time I'm at the library, perhaps it will give me some fresh inspiration for my next doll or collage.  Find out more about this book in the Children's Books section!

Life Chapters

Happy Spring!  Happy Easter!  I hope these warmer, sunnier days (at least here in Michigan!) are blessing you :)  It has been a busy winter for me, what with student teaching and all.  Graduation (!) is approaching - two weeks!!  As a fellow teacher said as we left school today, another chapter of my life is ending.  I've finished my student teaching, am preparing for graduation, and I'm ready to find a job!

I've been reading quite a bit since the beginning of January.  I've joined a sort of Book Challenge - to read 50 books this year.  I am doing well so far!  I've read 9-10 books each month, and just last night I finished book #32.  I've got a backlog of books to read from the library, and a whole lot of ideas I hope to share on here.  Be looking for some new additions!

A January update

Hello!  I was going to say something about how it was a grey January day, but I just peeked out the window and it is sunny!  What a happy thing :)  I'm currently reading Rose Daughter by Robin McKinley and really enjoying it, it's the third title of hers that I have read.  Her variations of familiar fairytales are captivating, I really enjoy them.  Expect to see some of these titles showing up in the Grownup Fiction area soon!

I've made a few changes to my Reading list to reflect the some of the multitude of books I've got checked out of the library right now. As part of my goals for 2006, I said that I would read at least 25 books this year (excluding picture books), so quite a bit of reading will happen this year and I hope to be able to keep this site up to date, reflecting the titles I have recently read and enjoyed.

I also made some changes to my Wishlist, to reflect the titles I recieved as gifts at Christmas time (Thank you!) and to include titles that I have read since then and would like to own.

Have a great sunny afternoon!
